New CRYPTOPSY Singer: 'I Am Very Proud To Be Part Of Such An Influential And Monumental' Band
December 11, 20073 MILE SCREAM frontman Matt McGachy has commented on his new gig as the lead singer for the Canadian death metallers CRYPTOPSY.
Said McGachy: "I am very proud to now be a part of such an influential and monumental death metal group from Canada. CRYPTOPSY has been a huge inspiration to myself and many other bands, so I am honored to help usher their musical legacy into the future."
He added, "My presence in CRYPTOPSY has not shaken my ties to 3 MILE SCREAM and the band will continue to gig throughout the upcoming year as we prepare to release the group's new album."
In other news, 3 MILE SCREAM recently gave an interview to Leila Lemghalef of WatchMojo.com where they discussed the group's sound and the making of their video for the song "Our Blackened Sun". The interview can be seen below.
"Our Blackened Sun" is taken from 3 MILE SCREAM's Corporate Punishment debut album, "A Prelude To Our Demise", which can be heard in its entirety at this location.
"A Prelude To Our Demise" has prompted a plethora of critical acclaim from critics and fans, including ARCH ENEMY's Michael Amott who claimed 3 MILE SCREAM was "heavy and melodic" with "great chops" and LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe, who described the band as "artfully orchestrated brutality."
CRYPTOPSY parted ways with singer Lord Worm (a.k.a. Dan Greening) in April. No reason was given for Lord Worm's departure, but according to guitarist Alex Auburn, the vocalist was "kicked out" of the band and didn't leave of his own accord (an account later disputed by Lord Worm)
CRYPTOPSY's last studio album, "Once Was Not", was released in 2005 via Century Media Records.
Upcoming 3 MILE SCREAM tour dates:
